Inkspell
God, I am really getting senile! No sooner did I write about Hoot then I remembered another book that I read before Misty. Duh, Hillary. I actually read this book before X-Men and Fray as well. I need to start writing these books down the moment I finish them so I don’t forget! Geez!
Anyway, readers of this blog who have been around for the long haul may remember my review of a book called Inkheart which I really didn’t like at all. Why then, you might ask, would I read the sequel of a book I didn’t like? Two reasons. Firstly, I have like all this author’s other books so I decided to give her a second chance and secondly, Brandon Fraser does the audio book and I am in love with him. I’m actually glad I did read it because it was better than the first one, however, before you read this book take note! It ends on a very very depressing cliff hanger and the next book won’t be out for 2 years. Consider yourself warned. I was really annoyed, myself, to have to wait so long. Might as well wait and just read them both back to back.

Hoot
To be fair, I actually read this book before Misty, but I forgot to list it until after I wrote it up so they are reversed.
Sometimes I read books just because movies have been made of them which generally means they will be decent. I think I really wanted this book to be like Holes which I read a few years ago which was one of the best books I ever read. Sadly, this book is cute, but not much more than that. It’s a little juvenile. Yeah, I know its meant for young adult readers but 99% of the books I read are mean for YA readers and they don’t feel dumbed down. A good YA book should just be “safe” for YA to read, but enjoyable to everyone. This book was almost there, but not quite.

Misty of Chincoteague
I read this book back when I was, oh, I don’t know, maybe 8 years old? I didn’t remember anything about it so I decided to give it another read to refreash my memory. The book disturbs me because I just want them to leave the darn wild ponies alone and not make them race and sell them, but otherwise, cute little book.
