14/50 Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx
First off, I actually started and failed to finish two books before this one. I realize this was counterproductive to the 50 Book Challenge goal but I just couldn’t do it. The first, Interview with a Vampire (which I have not only never read, but never even seen the movie for) was in this ridiculously huge book with 2 of the author’s other books and the sheer size of the thing was too intimidating. I have since taken the book out in a volume by itself and am going to give it another go.
Secondly, I got about half was through St. Lucy’s Home for Girl’s Raised by Wolves which, though it has an excellent title, the book is much less so and I just couldn’t make it through.
So I finally just finished Brokeback Mountain which I figured I might as well read since I didn’t see the movie and I felt out of the pop culture loop. Actually very good. I think I might go seek out the movie now.
