15/50 Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice
So, somehow, I have remained blissfully unaware of either this book or movie up to this point. I actually knew nothing about it except that Tom Cruise is in the movie and honestly I was picturing him as the wrong character the entire time so fat lot of good that did me. I was really expecting it to be like a tawdry grocery store paperback but with vampires so I was actually rather pleasantly surprised. It did make me very nostalgic for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, though, so I may have to watch that on DVD this week sometime.
I already started a new book but at some point in this year’s 50 book challenge I may have to read the sequels. I have been told that the first 2 sequels are good and then they go downhill so I’ll have to see.
An old friend of mine from when I used to teach riding lessons once lent me this book from a series about this vampire hunter that had a lot of sex in it but was different and interesting. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called but if I remember I might have to look that up again.
The funny thing about reading a book well after most of the world has read it is that there were parts I had heard about long ago and had no idea they were from this so I had several "Oh, that’s from this book?" moments.
On a totally unrelated to vampires note, I have decided that I am at peace with Tom Cruise again. I never really liked him to begin with and then when he was jumping on couches and aggravating people with post partum depression, I liked him less but we watched MI:3 the other day and, while he may be a nutbar in real life, he is still cute to look at and I will not shun him.
Though he better not break poor Katie Holmes heart or he will have me and Dawson Leery to contend with!
