curse you Jack Sparow

So, the theme from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies is everywhere (sporting events, commercials, in my head all the time). I have (from the library) the soundtrack from the first two movies.

This may be an idiotic question, but what track are they all using? I mean, that main theme (you know the one) is repeated throughout the entire soundtrack but there must be some version where it is used longest because when they use it for sporting events, it’s certainly longer than a few bars. Which piece of music are they using? What is "the" official theme?

This is driving me nuts, can’t you tell? I totally spent some time Googling "pirate theme sporting events" yesterday to no avail.

I must confess that I love listening to the soundtracks of those movies. I have the first two cued back to back and I listen on contrast repeat. It makes whatever you are doing (laundry, cooking, driving) seem really epic and important. Unfortunately, I have discovered that if I listen to it while I am near a computer, however, it makes me stop doing work entirely and just try to find fun trivia about the movie online. It’s like a sickness.

They totally used Davy Jones’ music on the hockey game last night and that gave me joy (you know its getting serious when I can ID a piece of music by name). Not as much joy as the MLP shout-out in Transformers but, you know, that was like a religious experience. Or, a pagan one if you read my previous entry.
