Hess Truck Trivia!
Maybe you had to either be a boy or have a brother to appreciate them, but Hess Trucks are/were/will always be pretty darn awesome. I remember every year my brother would take them all out in this little ritual and we would sit on the floor and play with them. They would light up and make noise and were just generally awesome.
I also fondly remember trekking to the nearest Hess station (which was all the way by the Red Lobster, my child’s mind recalls) and waiting on line with my dad on Thanksgiving morning to get one for my brother every year because if you didn’t go early they would always sell out. The invariably backfired in some way in which we ended up not communicating with other relatives and he got like 3 of them each year, but what can you do. The same used to happen with me and holiday Barbies.
Good holiday times! I am however slightly sad that they have been forced to change the "Christmas is here" part of their little song.
Here is the newer version which will still get stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
Also, here is some amusing Hess Truck trivia that you can bust out when people least expect it.
So, did you ever have a Hess truck or at least have the vicarious trill of playing with the Hess truck of a sibling?
