Saying Goodbye: The My Little Pony G1 Collector’s Inventory (Illustrated and Full Color Edition with Price Guide)

Published by Hillary DePiano at 2:21 pm under News and Updates

Throughout the long, cold winter of 2005, I spent many long hours in front of a computer screen, surrounded by boxes of my My Little Pony collection compiling The My Little Pony Collector’s Inventory: A Complete Checklist of All US Ponies, Playsets and Accessories from 1981 to 1992. At first, my intention was never to sell it, but rather to just use it for my own personal use. However, after I looked back on how many hours I had poured into the creation of it and all the work it was, I thought I would make it available to see if other MLP collectors would also find it useful. The book was picked up by Priced Nostalgia Press and the rest, as they say, is history.

I owe everyone who purchased this book over the last 2 years a very big thanks as I never expected it to be as successful as it was. To everyone that I had the pleasure of meeting at the MLP Convention in 2005 and all the MLP collectors who have emailed me over the years to thank me for the book and to talk ponies, I am also grateful for getting to share my MLP obsession with you.

Why, you may be asking, does this sound like a goodbye? Well, that is because in many ways, it is. In a few weeks, Priced Nostalgia Press will be releasing the long awaited follow up to my book, fully illustrated with hundreds of glorious full color pictures of ponies, accessories, playsets, plush and more. But this time around, the book isn’t by me, but rather Summer Hayes, the author of the fantastic book The My Little Pony G3 Collector’s Inventory. I have gotten to see a few pieces of this new book and I can tell you that it is everything that a MLP collector or even fan could wish for. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy and I have a feeling most pony fans will feel the same way once they see it.

With the release of Summer’s book, however, the original will be going out of print. I know Amazon and some of the other major bookstores still have some copies left in stock and there are bound to still be some bopping around eBay for a while, but if you never got a chance to get a copy, now is definitely the time before they are all gone. As great as Summer’s book is, it isn’t going to fit in your pocket like the original picture-less version did so it can definitely be useful to have around.

(I personally use my own book very often. I actually had to put a big white sticker on the cover of mine that says “My Copy” because I often had so many copies around it got very confusing, as you could imagine.)

This is not, however, a goodbye to MLP collecting and I am sure that I will be posting some pony related posts once Summer’s book is out because just seeing a few pages of it has already put me in an pony mood and I have been dusting off my Want List. Until then, thanks for your support and happy ponying!
