the world’s most awesome My Little Pony guide EVER

I got my copy of Summer Hayes’ The My Little Pony G1 Collector’s Inventory: an unofficial full color illustrated collector’s price guide to the first generation of MLP including all US ponies, playsets and accessories released before 1997 on Friday and it is so awesome, I was positively giddy flipping through it. As I mentioned in a previous post, Summer’s book is essentially the second edition of my, now retired, MLP guide so it holds extra significance to me beyond the fact that I love My Little Pony and it is an amazing MLP guide. I have to congratulate Summer Hayes and Priced Nostalgia Press, they did an amazing job on it!

To me, the biggest pluses are the big photos which have already been a huge help in the 24 hours that I have had the book. Now, when I am selling ponies on eBay, I can just quickly flip and double check the pony’s name and value instead of trolling pony sites and then doing eBay research. For me, its a huge time saver, never mind that I love having the photos of ponies that I will never be able to afford to purchase to drool over at my leisure. It’s making me want to dust off my want list, BIG TIME! :-)

Another thing that I like is the sections on the other items (like Dream Beauties, Petite Ponies, Li’l Litters, plush, etc) because I actually stopped collecting everything but the core MLP and I sold off all of the above items years ago. I like that now can at least look at the photos and feel like those items are still with me, even though I sold them. Corny, yes, but looking at the pictures make me feel less guilty for selling out my childhood toys.

I took a look and the book isn’t on most of the bookstores yet (as of a few minutes ago, Amazon and Barnes and Noble had no record of it, though Goodreads had it listed at least) this isn’t too surprising since it just came out on Thursday. If you are like me, however, and want a copy like yesterday, Priced Nostalgia has about 30 copies on hand that will ship immediately listed here.

If you are a die hard pony collector or just a child of the 80’s you have got to get your hands on one. I assure you, you will not regret it!
