the rules that all female celebrities (and presidential candidates) have to follow

Published by Hillary DePiano under quotes

This perfectly sums up my problem with all celebrity news. These are “the rules” for a female actress:

Have a ”positive body image,” but also a killer body. Stay within the two-pound weight range that will not reveal you as either anorexic or a pig. Age gracefully, but never get older. Don’t have wrinkles, but don’t use Botox. Be modest, but when you win an award, weep as if a gold statuette is a personalized gift from heaven. If you get pregnant, be prepared to let a dozen news outlets act as your ob-gyn. Express concern about your carbon footprint, but don’t be ”political.” Talk about how living a normal life is important to you, but smile while every aspect of it is scrutinized. Criticize no one. Never speak off the cuff. Smile for the cameras. Don’t cross those women on The View. And above all, maintain a stance of deep gratitude for everything while expressing opinions about nothing. -Source

Something to waste your time at work. . .

Published by Hillary DePiano under Websites

It’s Lovely! I’ll Take It!. is a blog that showcases very bad real estate photos. Anyone who either is looking for a house or otherwise just bought a house will have some fun reading through it. Some of the pictures are hilarious and some are just oddly depressing. . .

so much to do, so unable to remember what

Published by Hillary DePiano under Miscellaneous

I have a lot to do. I know I do. I wrote myself a very long To Do list on Friday before we left home for my husband’s family’s house. Yet now, as I sit here in front of my in-laws computer, I cannot think of what any of it is.

We were here to celebrate both my husband (Tuesday) and his grandmother’s (Monday) birthday but, sadly, all is not well and his grandmother went from a small stomach issue to a hospital stay to intensive care to very risky surgery all in a matter of 3 days. (We would appreciate your keeping her in your thoughts). Before they all left this morning, my husband gave me a hurried “I don’t want you to come” (which is fine, I have totally been there with my relatives and understand 100%) and left me here. So I did my Wii Fit workout (we brought it along to show his family) and then beat every single track on Mario Kart, unlocking just about everything there is to unlock.

At last phone call, they would be at least another 3 hours before she got out of surgery so I figured I should try and get some work done. I am missing several bits of software I need to do my job for Lulu as well as the fact that I obviously cannot pack or list eBay items from a remote location. I don’t have access to the Priced Nostalgia server from here so I cannot work on any of my big projects going on there, but still, I should be able to do something of my To Do list as I do have an internet connection at my disposal but yet I find myself too distracted to think of anything beyond this blog post.

It’s strange that when I suddenly find myself without any interruption, with a potentially very long segment of time in which I could hypothetically get a ton of work done, the unusual and tense nature of the situation has rendered me pretty much useless.
