my mom is not great with names

Or, well, speaking for that matter as you may have noticed.

This is the woman who once referred to Hootie and the Blowfish as Whoopie and the Goldfish and is convinced Hello Dolly starred a woman called Barbra Striesdale and that Heath Ledger was called Keith Richards.

But a recurring issue we are facing is that my mother loves The Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Hey, I love them too. But as she recaps the highlights for me, she always gets the names wrong.

She is convinced that the host of The Daily Show is named Jon Daily. Sometimes she calls him Daily for short. It does not matter how many times you correct her, this is just a part of her brain.

To complicate matters further, she calls the host of the Colbert Report Stewart Colbert instead of Stephen Colbert. This is all getting rather confusing and, to make matters worse, she is making me do it. I totally called Jon Stewart, Jon Daily the other day which is just no good.

The woman has her own private version of English. I respect that. But must she enforce it upon the rest of us?
