OK, fine. Because you asked for it, I’m giving you two more free days. The book will be free again on March 3rd and 4th but this is absolutely 100% your last chance to get it free! -Hillary

The free promotion for Daddy Issues was a rousing success so I wanted to give you another little present. From February 18th through midnight on February 20th (President’s Day), you can grab The Author free from Amazon.

Don’t have a Kindle? Here’s how to read your free copy in your browser, on your computer, cell phone or tablet.

Oh and if you do take advantage of this free copy promotion, I’d greatly appreciate your taking a moment to write up a brief review of the book on Amazon!

The more copies that are downloaded, the better my sales rank and the better it helps me with future sales. If you can help out by sharing the link to this book with your friends, I would greatly appreciate it.

The Author
by Hillary DePiano

Ever have one of those days when you aren’t sure which side of the pen you’re on?

When Julianne writes a violent role in her play for her shy crush Leslie, she imagines she’s letting him act out his secret desires. But the character she writes turns out to be more than her awkward classmate can handle and her words lead to tragedy. As the narrative peels back to reveal other angles and the layers of storytelling unravel around them, only one question remains: Who is The Author?

From the author of The Love of Three OrangesThe Author is the Winner of the 2001 Julia Fonville Smithson Memorial Prize and the 2001 West Branch Literary Prize for Fiction.

The Love of Three Oranges: the cure for the common Apocalypse

Skyline High School is performing The Love of Three Oranges this upcoming weekend. They created a website specifically for their production which you can check out here.

But I wanted to particularly highlight this line from their site:

Because of the impending doom of 2012, Mrs. Riddoch thinks that this slapstick comedy will be a great way to start off the year. “We need to lighten up this year” she said. “and ‘The Love for Three Oranges’ is the perfect way to do it!” She loves the comedy and hopes that in the midst of 2012, it will be a breath of fresh air and comedy.

I like the idea of needing laughter now especially when everyone’s convinced the world will end (whether they view that literally, as in zombies, or figuratively because of politics or whatever else). I originally wrote Three Oranges in the aftermath of 9/11 so the play was always meant to be a break from the horrors of the world. When things get tough, we need an escape and laughter is usually the perfect medicine.

So whether the Mayans turn out to be right and society as we know it will come crashing down around us in 2012 or not, I’m all for going down laughing! There’s no reason the end times can’t also be good times. ;-)
