If you’re new to NaNoWriMo or if you’ve only ever participated online and haven’t gone to the in-person events, you’ve missed out on one of the coolest National Novel Writing Month traditions. Collectible stickers!

Every year, there’s a limited run of a new design which matches the theme of the contest. These are a hot commodity and having one from every year you’ve participated is a matter of pride for many participants. In the past, they’ve also done sets where there were multiple sticker designs for each year, encouraging participants to collect them all, but, since 2013, there’s only been a single design for each year. These stickers are heavy-duty ones, able to withstand the sort of abuse your average laptop sticker goes through, and super cute.

Here’s the 2013, 2014 and 2015 stickers to give you a few examples:

Where can you score one of these super cool stickers?

In the past, Come Write In locations used to have stickers and you used to be able to purchase them directly from the NaNoWriMo merchandise store but that’s no longer the case. Now the only place to get a sticker of your very own is to attend a write-in or other in-person events! Your local ML has a stash of them and s/he is authorized to hand them out at events. Some MLs have also gifted a few stickers to Come Write-In Locations like libraries so check with your ML to see if there are any bookstores or libraries with a stash to hand out.

If you’re in a really spread out region or just can’t make it to events, ask your ML if you can send them a self-addressed stamped envelope and they might be willing to mail you one. I know I will! But supplies are very limited and attendees at events get first priority so if you can meet your local ML to get a sticker, do it! Keep an ear out for which local events your ML will be at and claim your prize!
