You will recall that I am cheating on my novel with a new novel. We are going to call this new one the Mistress Novel. It makes it sound all seductive.
I keep writing the name of the main character of my other novel when I mean the main character of this one. This is something of a problem, like calling out the wrong name in bed.
I must confess, today is one of those days when I really had to force myself to write. My husband is super sick so he went to bed early and I said to myself, I would normally be goofing off or out on a Saturday night but here I am here at home with no obligations to anyone instead. I should write. So I literally forced myself to sit down and hack away when I totally wasn’t in the mood. This is where you really need to remind yourself about all those writing books that tell you to force yourself to write even when you don’t feel inspired because, lordy, it is hard to remember that on your own.
The good news? What I have written so far: kinda good. This is a refreshing change of pace.
As a treat to myself, I am breaking every rule I set for my novel with the Mistress Novel. After all, what is the point of having a mistress if you can’t do the things the wife won’t let you do, eh? (Are you weirded out that my novel and mistress are both apparently female? So am I!)
My god, writing realism is so refreshing after all the fantasy in the other novel. I don’t have to sit for hours mapping out the rules of some stupid thing I made up. I am really loving this, not gonna lie. If you are asking why I made my other novel so complicated then, I say to you, shhhhhh.
I actually could keep going for a few more chapters tonight but I know my chances of getting whatever illness my husband has are great so I don’t want to push my luck so I am calling it quits.
Just wanted to let you know where I was with this. ๐
