I am donating my hair to Lock of Love again tomorrow so my hair will be very short. I am donating 10 inches so I am not sure exactly where it will fall, but I am thinking just below my ears.

I am telling you this because, for some absurd reason, my friends and family are very invested in my hair. Particularly, a great many people are obsessed with my hair being long and go on and on about how much they love it so much better long *wink wink* and a few tactless people go so far as to just tell me I look terrible in short hair.

My take on this is that, I have never disliked any haircut I have had, though there are some that I got so much grief for I may never repeat them just to save myself drama. If I didn’t like how I looked with a haircut, I wouldn’t leave the store until I did. That is just how I roll.

I don’t dislike myself with long hair. I guess I look fine. That said, I hate living with long hair.

Why? A list:

• I don’t have that kind of time. When my hair is long it takes a very long time to blow dry and, if I forget to dry it and let it air dry, it takes on very a strange texture. I cannot “rush out” anywhere without just committing to wet hair for this reason as shower=hour of drying hair. It is too much of a project everyday!
• It is like wearing a thick woolen blanket draped over your head, neck and shoulders at all times. My hair is not only long, but also really thick. This is particularly bad in the summer. When your hair gets sweaty each time you leave the house, this is a problem.
• It is everywhere! I cannot roll over in my sleep without getting tangled up in it, I cannot put on chapstick without my hair getting stuck on my lips, I cannot cross the street on a windy day without being englufed in the blinding storm of my own folicles.
• Lastly, I hate having anything on my neck. It is a complex. I rarely do turtlenecks for this reason. I will suck it up for short periods of time but as soon as I get home I usually change into a non-collared shirt. As for my hair, unless I am going out, it is pretty much always up. While hanging around the house, if there is not already a scrunchie in my hair, I am usually walking around the house going, “Where did I put my scrunchie?”

In conclusion, I don’t care if you all think I look terrible with short hair. The long hair is too annoying and, to me, if I am going to wrap my hair up so that it isn’t touching my neck, why not just cut it to above that point anyway and be cool.

You may think I am being overdramatic, but I seriously get a lot of greif about this considering that it is no one’s darn business but mine! I had been putting this off because of a particularly nasty comment someone made to me recently when I told her that I was donating my hair again but I decided today I don’t care. My mother even just tried to make an 11th hour case of leaving it long a few minutes ago, but she is too late.

Haircut appointment at 11 am tomorrow. So there.
