Just a quick addendum to this post. As I mentioned, there have now been over 100 productions of The Love of Three Oranges since I wrote it in 2002. But nearly productions did multiple performances of the show during their run so you may be wondering, how many performances have their been?

The answer isn’t as simple as you might think.

Since Playscripts acquired the show in 2011, there have been 163 performances. Those performances represent only the 56 productions that have been licensed through Playscripts and that count doesn’t include the other 55 productions they have listed which are from back when I owned the rights. On top of this, I already told you how I’m missing several years worth of records from the early days so we’ll never actually know the real count exactly. But we can at least estimate.

Based on the numbers above, each production averages three performances and we know for sure about at least 111 productions. Therefor we can assume that there have been about 333 performances.

Three threes. Three oranges. Heh. That worked out nicely, didn’t it? 😉

But when you figure in the missing years we’re probably edging ever closer to 400 performances which is just mind blowing.

And the craziest part? More performances just keep getting added every day!
