So, according to the tracking number, I should have the final proof of The Author in my grubby little hands by the end of this week. This means that, barring any huge changes or other glaring errors, The Author will be ready for sale in less than a month, hopefully closer to 2 weeks. I will, of course, post as soon as Amazon starts taking pre-orders which may be as soon as next week.
Now, weirdly enough, the audio for the podcast of the novel is ready to roll and has been for a while. I’ve been holding it back because while it’s one thing to release the audio of a book for free in the hopes that people by the printed book, it is quite another to release the audio for free before there is a printed book available so I didn’t want to screw myself over. That said, as soon as the printed book is available, I will be unleashing the audio on the world so you have that to look forward to.
Last but not least, if you are on Twitter, like so many of those hip kids are today (and by hip kids, I think I mean Oprah and Ashton), you can follow news and discussion about The Author at @the_author. Instead of overloading @HillaryDePiano and making it all The Author, all the time while the release is going on, I set up a separate account. Ideally, you love me enough to follow them both. ๐ I anticipate only minor overlap between the two so following them both shouldn’t be annoying.
My plan is to do a book club-like discussion of the book on Twitter so if you follow that account, you’ll be sure to hear all about it.
If you prefer to keep in old school and just read about it on the blog, no worries there either. While you may not be able to join in the Twitter conversation, I should be able to at least show you the discussion as it progresses so you shouldn’t feel left out and hope to have a blog specific chat as well. Everyone wins!

That is so, so cool. You must be so darn proud of yourself!
I am a little! Of course, if it does well, I’ll be even prouder! ๐

“…it is quite another to release the audio for free before there is a printed book available so I didnโt want to screw myself over.”
Congrats. You get it. Many don’t. It’s like they’re stuck with the antiquated idea that you have to promote something BEFORE it’s available. I don’t understand the mentality. Not when it comes to books. If you’re going to give me something in hopes that I buy something else, make DANG sure that “something else” is available to purchase. Right. Now.
Well thought out. Now, let’s see if it works!
