So Script Frenzy is finally over and regular readers can rest easy knowing I won’t be bombarding them with Screnzy posts every three seconds. Even next year it won’t be as bad because I wrote many of my articles to be timeless meaning that I will be able to just retweet the links next year instead of writing new. I know you are relieved. Lord knows I am, that was a lot of work!
You may have noticed the posts that go up automatically whenever I post something on one of my other blogs. Their title is just the date and they look like this. I find them annoying right now and I’m still tweaking them. Unfortunately, I have no way to test them other than to just let them post and adjust after the fact. I finally figured out how to have them leave out the useless posts (like the notices from Script Frenzy) so hopefully they will be better in the future. But I hope, in the end, they will be something useful rather than annoying.
My intention is to make them weekly instead of daily very soon, I’m just waiting on an update for a plugin and then they’ll just post on Fridays every week to review. Weekly digests are what I wanted all along so I am really excited for that. It just seems more logical for it to be a weekly recap instead of a daily thing.
Why have them at all? Well, the answer is pretty simple. I am all over the web blogging, often on several sites at once in a given day. But this blog usually ends up getting the short end of the stick and that is bad. After all, this is the main face of Hillary DePiano and it usually looks like a deadzone because I’m posting elsewhere but not here. So these digests are designed to fix this. This way, even if I’m blogging elsewhere, someone who comes to this, my main site, sees the most recent post I posted and knows where to go to read it. It keeps the site active and also puts more of a connection in place between my various sites. After all, just if you like me you like me no matter where I am writing, right? 🙂
It just makes sense to have at least a notification whenever I post something new elsewhere online. Many people already do this manually, writing a post on one of their other blogs to lead readers to a new entry, so all I’m doing is automating this to save myself time. That said, please share your feedback on it, I’m still working to improve it so any suggestions would be appreciated.
In other housekeeping news, I’m going to be going through the archive of this blog and cleaning it up in the next weeks. In other words, all those entries from back when this was nothing more than a personal blog are getting the boot as well as all the quotes (which will find another home somewhere). As my career takes of and I need to put forth a more professional face, I really need to get some of that stuff off the web so if you have a favorite post from the archives, go ahead and read it now before its gone for good.
Life is very very busy right now so I’m going to keep this short but I thank you for sticking with me while I muck with this blog and figure out what the heck I am doing. I have a bunch of exciting things planned in the near future so hopefully there will be good stuff to share soon.
Hillary DePiano is a playwright, fiction and non-fiction writer who loves writing of all kinds except for writing bios like this.
