Though Polar Twilight was actually released before the 2012-2013 catalog was released, it was out just a few weeks too late to actually be in the catalog so it’s featured this year instead.
One thing that sort of strange for me coming from the self-publishing world is seeing how the publisher markets these titles and the little surprises there. For instance, while I figured they were going to market the show to high schools because The Love of Three Oranges has been a consistent bestseller in that category, I was surprised to see that they also highlighted the play for middle schools and community theaters. It’s a really awesome vote of confidence in the show and something they didn’t do for Three Oranges so it was a nice surprise.
What will it actually mean in terms of productions? Only time will tell. But even without being in their catalog last year, Polar Twilight has already built up a little production history which is pretty darn good for almost no marketing so it’s already off to a good start.
