There is less than a week left in November. Thanksgiving is a mere four days away. December starts next Sunday.

All of this means that we’re dangerously close to the end of NaNoWriMo.

I know that some of you have already passed 50,000 and I want to assure you that the rest of us are giving you glares of, um, respect, and totally not jealousy no matter what you’ve heard. As for everyone else, whether you’re on pace, behind or Really Freaking Behind, I encourage you to keep writing up until the bitter end.

You can absolutely still win this thing. There are people every year who do all 50k in a single day and you’ve got a whole week.

But forget about winning for a minute. Keep writing even if you are positive you can’t hit 50k a this point.

Every word you get down is a victory.

Every sentence is a triumph over your doubts, your fears, your procrastination, and your demons.

Every little bit more you write is something when before you had nothing and that is a feat to be celebrated no matter what your final word count.

So, I implore you to keep writing for you.

You’ll look back once all this madness is over and you’ll be grateful for the words you did write more than you’ll mourn the ones you didn’t.
