I honestly didn’t think it was possible but I pulled it off! After finishing a big revision of The Green Bird at the very end of December, I spent the beginning of January chopping the two-hour full length play down to about half an hour. It was such an incredibly different process than crafting the one-act version of The Love of Three Oranges. There was so much fluff and so little plot in Oranges it was no big deal to cut some of it and rearrange things but The Green Bird is very plot heavy.
Though I didn’t think I could do it, I did and The Green Bird (one-act version) is now available for productions! (Email me if you’d like a perusal copy.) The runtime is about 35-45 minutes and the cast size is the same as the full length and everyone’s favorite parts are all still in here. There are no immediate plans to publish it as I’m still workshopping it with schools but if you’d like the chance to be part of that process and be the official premiere, please do let me know!
In case you missed it, I also have another brand new one-act available called The She Bear.
