I won’t link to where I saw this to protect the innocent but there was a forum thread recently asking if Script Frenzy and the whole challenge to write 100 pages of a script in a month was just an April Fools joke. The posters were worried that they would be falling for this gag big time if they signed up for this “fake contest.”
Well let me take this moment to assure you that Script Frenzy is a very real contest and that it isn’t some kind of trick designed to catch fans of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Instead, it is a non-profit event by the same wonderful people who brought us NaNoWriMo. It actually was originally held in July before they moved the contest to April. It is a challenge to write 100 pages of a TV script, screenplay, video game, graphic novel, stage play or comic book in 30 days.
The event may be in April and we may be fools for trying this challenge but the contest itself is as real as can be!
So now that we’ve cleared that up, I have to ask: When you first heard of this crazy event starting April 1st, did you think it was an April Fools Joke too? 🙂

Hillary DePiano is a playwright, fiction and non-fiction writer who loves writing of all kinds except for writing bios like this.

I think what's foolish is that it was moved to April. Why the change? I like not having to write on my birthday.
I like to think of it more as, we are all April Fools for trying to write a script in a month! 😉
