So, you’re thinking about writing a script in a month as part of the month long Script Frenzy (Screnzy) challenge? This sister event from the people behind NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) gives you the chance to challenge yourself to write a 100 page script in 30 days this April. I’m here to try to give you some tips to help you complete this huge goal.
Some people like to look at where other people are in comparison to them. I like to look at friends because then it’s personal and I can be like, Bob has 10 pages more than me? The hell he does! and then it inspires me to write more.
However, there are going to be people with over 100 pages in the first 24 hours. There are actually going to be people with over 200 pages in the first 24 hours. These people will make you sad. Don’t let this get to you.
Tell yourself that they are writing B-movie pulp and yours is going to win an Oscar. Tell yourself that they are making the numbers up (sadly, they aren’t). Tell yourself whatever you want but don’t let it discourage you into stopping, no matter what.
If you start worrying about how far ahead other people are, you’re going to be tempted to quit. Don’t let it get to you, this challenge is for you and your the only person you should be comparing yourself to.
