The end of summer is coming up and teachers other educators are looking for plays to do in the coming school year. Many of my plays are school friendly, The Love of Three Oranges is even a bestseller for high school theatre, so here’s a quick overview of everything I have available right now that can work with student actors from middle school to college. All are free of adult language and are fun and family friendly. Please consider any of these shows for your upcoming season.

Full Length Plays

The Love of Three Oranges

A full length comedy in three acts, this is my most popular play. A bestseller on Playscripts for both adaptations and high school plays, this large cast play adapted from Carlo Gozzi is done in a modernized commedia style with lots of modern references and opportunities for improve that make it a favorite with schools. Not only is it fun to perform, it’s great for the classroom with multiple educational angles.

Run Time: 90 – 120 minutes
Cast: 8 f, 8 m, 5 either (13- unlimited actors possible)

The Green Bird

Carlo Gozzi’s standalone sequel to The Love of Three Oranges, this play is brand new this year. Done in the same modernized commedia style that made Three Oranges so popular, this show has the same educational and entertainment appeal with even more opportunities for stage combat, music, puppets, physical comedy and improvisation.

Run Time: 90 – 120 minutes
Cast: 7 M 6 F (3 male roles can switch to female),
13-unlimited total

Vampire Santa and the New Year’s Thieve

Santa Claus is a vampire and Frosty’s a coat rack in this unusual holiday play. Funny and heartwarming, this play puts a new spin on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. This play is a double feature of my holiday plays Polar Twilight and New Year’s Thieve performed back to back.

Run Time: 60 – 90 minutes

One-Act

The Love of Three Oranges

The one act version of my popular commedia adaptation. Everything you love about the full length in a competition friendly format!

Run Time: 35-40 minutes
Cast: 8 f, 6 m, 4 either (10-30 actors possible)

Polar Twilight

Everything you know about Santa is wrong in this holiday comedy perfect for competitions!

Run Time: 20-25 minutes
Cast: 3 f, 3 m (6 actors possible: 0-5 f, 1-6 m)

 

New Year’s Thieve

A standalone sequel to Polar Twilight where Frosty’s a coat rack and the New Year’s in jeopardy! A heartwarming comedy perfect for competitions!

Run Time: 35 – 45 minutes
Cast: 2 Male, 3 Female, 3 Either (7 to 10+ actors possible)

Weak Days

Looking for something a little more challenging for your students? Really want to wow at competition? Try this experimental comedy where 5 actors play the same character on simultaneous days of the week.

Run Time: 40 – 45 minutes (One Act)
Cast: 6-7 Gender Neutral

Three Padded Walls

How can Jenny be crazy when she’s the only one who knows what’s really going on? Great for duo competition or classroom study!

Run Time: < 10 minutes
Cast: 2 F, 1 Either
