Two of my best friends just had babies very close together. I was at the store looking for cards. There was someone next to me and, without looking, I assumed it was my husband who had previously been standing there.
So I say, “The baby girl cards are fine but all the baby boy cards are so incredibly stupid. Does having a baby boy give you brain damage?”
The person next to me turned out to not be my husband but instead a random lady who laughed quite exuberantly. I apologized and explained I’d thought she was my husband and she said it was fine. Then she burst out laughing again and said, “Brain damage. It’s so true!” She was still shaking with laughter as she moved to another section of the store.
Moments like this make me feel like I might possibly be funny because I didn’t even consider that a very good joke.
